PASIG CITY, Philippines, October 23, 2025: The Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL), Inc., successfully held its 20th Anniversary Badminton Tournament at the Upper Deck Sports Center on September 20, 2025.
The 20th ACEL Badminton Tournament is one of the association’s annual sports festivals. This year’s celebration marks two decades of shuttle flights, gentle serves, and fast rallies among participants. Initially, players were screened during the leveling process to determine their class participation.
The main event began with a prayer thanking the Almighty GOD for celebrating the association’s 20th anniversary of the badminton tournament. Following this, ACEL Past President and Co-Chair of the Fellowship-Badminton Committee, Mr. J. Eladio L. Angeles, together with ACEL President Ms. Abigail S. Mancilla, delivered their opening remarks, thanking all participants for their ongoing support of this sportsfest. Moments later, guidelines were announced for everyone’s awareness and compliance.
Afterward, participants performed some stretching exercises to energize. To formally start the tournament, the co-chairman of the Fellowship-Badminton Committee, Mr. Matthieu Benedicto, smashed the shuttlecock into the crowd, signaling that the competition was underway.
Northbay Construction Services Corporation was the lucky recipient of the shuttlecock, and a monetary prize was awarded to the winners.
Competitions began with players from Classes C and D in the elimination round. After a few hours, players from Classes B and A joined the action.
Players played multiple matches to determine which teams would advance to the finals. Unlike previous years, this tournament did not have semi-finals; all winners from the elimination rounds of their respective classes faced off, with the successful teams moving directly to the finals.
Later that day, finalists from each level competed for the champion and first runner-up titles. Some teams that advanced to the finals included CM Pancho, Northbay Construction Services Corp., Monark Equipment Corp.,
J.E. Manalo & Company Inc., Civic Merchandising, Inc., and Olympic Engineering & Sales Corp., among others.
Before announcing the winners, the Committee on Fellowship-Badminton, led by ACEL Past President Mr. J. Eladio Angeles, Past President Mr. Lito M. Garcia, and ACEL President Ms. Abigail S. Mancilla, delivered closing remarks.
Shortly thereafter, a short AVP was shown in tribute to the association’s two decades of hosting the badminton tournament, where Past President Angeles shared the humble beginnings of the sportsfest and described how it grew bigger and more celebratory over the years.
The tournament concluded with the announcement of winners, signifying that the competition was over. Below are the pairs who won the Champion and First Runner-Up spots for each class category:
