With the coronavirus pandemic still raging and with the number of people getting sick and dying continuing to rise at an alarming rate, the Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL) decided to make the COVID-19 vaccines the focus of its first Virtual General Membership Meeting (VGMM) for 2021.
Held on March 3, 2021 and conducted online via the Zoom platform, the meeting had two healthcare professionals as resource speakers: Dr. Janice Campos Caoili, chief of the infectious diseases section of Makati Medical Center’s Department of Medicine, and Gerardo Linco, head of new services at Reliance United, a member of the United Laboratories (Unilab) Group.
In her talk, Dr. Caoili discussed what she termed the “why, what, when and how of COVID-19 vaccination.” She said vaccination will help protect people from contracting the disease, it is a safer way to help build protection against the virus, and that it is an important tool to help stop the pandemic, describing it as “the most important strategy” for ending this health crisis.
