The Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL) participated in the recently held Philconstruct Visayas 2019 by conducting its, by now, signature technical seminars called “technoforums.” This year’s Visayan leg of Philconstruct was held at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug, Cebu last June 6-8, 2019.
A project of the Philippine Contractors Association (PCA), Philconstruct is the biggest expo series dedicated to the country’s construction industry. Each year, expos are held in Visayas and Mindanao that then lead to a grand event in Metro Manila which serves as the annual meeting place for the construction industry’s movers and shakers, gathering hundreds of leading suppliers and thousands of trade buyers in one venue. Beginning this year, a Luzon leg has been added to the series. The initial staging of this latest addition to the Philconstruct calendar was held last March at the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark, Pampanga.
A Philconstruct co-organizer, ACEL participates in all the expos where it offers technoforums that allow civil and mechanical engineers who attend them to earn continuing professional development (CPD) points. For this year’s Visayan leg, the Association even conducted a four-day seminar on equipment management that started on June 5, a day ahead of the expo’s official opening. Attracting 12 participants, it featured Rodolfo C. Menquita as the speaker.
On June 6, Philconstruct Visayas 2019’s opening day, ACEL held two technoforums. Robenson S. Lim of ACEL conducted a seminar on the “Fundamentals of Lashing and Safe Rigging Practices,” while staff from the Construction Manpower Development Foundation (CMDF) offered an introductory session on “Drone 101: Basic Drone Operation Training.”
The following day, two engineers from RMD Kwikform Philippines, WarelDemaisip and Arlan Vergara, served as the speakers for the “Formworks Engineering and Safety Seminar.” On June 8, the expo’s last day, Janice Honoridez of Megawide Construction Corporation conducted a technoforum on “Leadership Challenge: Work Site Supervision.”
Attended by architects, contractors and engineers from the region, Philconstruct Visayas 2019 also showcased the latest product offerings of many of the country’s biggest manufacturers and suppliers of construction materials, machinery and equipment.
