ACEL recently held its second General Membership Meeting (GMM) of 2023. The event, which lasted for two hours, centered around updates from the Bureau of Equipment (BOE) and discussions about possible projects. The guest speaker for the evening was Dir. Toribio Noel L. Ilao, Director of DPWH’s Bureau of Equipment.
The GMM event is part of ACEL’s bi-monthly gatherings, aimed at fostering integration and collaboration among members. It serves as a platform for sharing ideas, discussing relevant topics, and hosting informative lectures that contribute to the continuous improvement and development of the construction industry. The ultimate goal is to enhance services for ACEL’s general membership and promote excellence within the profession.
During the event, Dir. Ilao, in his capacity as the Director of DPWH’s Bureau of Equipment and the esteemed speaker for the evening, presented the BOE Updates and Possible Projects. He provided an overview of the mission, vision, and core functions of the bureau, along with its organizational structure. Dir. Ilao also highlighted the importance of ACEL in the industry, emphasizing the bureau’s fleet profile, quick response operations, and nationwide flood control program.
To conclude his presentation, Dir. Ilao engaged in a question-and-answer session, addressing various activities and industry-related situations. The session provided attendees with relevant insights into the history, challenges, and strategies related to the topic at hand.
Following Dir. Ilao’s presentation, Engr. Jonathan R. Perez, ACEL’s President, took the stage for his President’s Time. Engr. Perez updated attendees on the association’s ongoing developments and upcoming events for the ACEL Calendar Year 2023-2024, ensuring that everyone stayed informed about ACEL’s initiatives and future plans.
The GMM also marked the induction of ACEL’s newest member, Ms. Kim Sanchez of Socor Construction Corp. ACEL warmly welcomed Ms. Sanchez, expressing the association’s anticipation for Socor Construction Corp.’s support and involvement in ACEL’s endeavors.
As is customary, the event featured exciting raffle prizes for lucky ACEL members in attendance. The prizes ranged from minor items such as sets of store wares and soup bowls, gas stoves, and drinking glass sets, to major items including air fryers, rice cookers, cookware sets, cast irons, oven toasters, and stand fans. The grand prize winners walked away with two Smart LED TVs, making the raffle a highly anticipated and thrilling part of the evening.
Ms. Abigail Mancilla and Mr. Noel Flores served as the event’s hosts, ensuring a smooth flow of the program and ensuring the attendees’ comfort throughout the evening.
Overall, the GMM proved to be a highly informative and engaging event, leaving attendees with new ideas and perspectives on the topics discussed. The event received a tremendous response, with a large number of participants providing positive feedback.
