Marick Elementary School, a public school in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Cainta, Rizal, received a timely gift from the Association of Carriers of Equipment Lessors (ACEL) last August 16, 2022. The Association, as its contribution to the “Brigada Eskwela ‘22” program of the Department of Education (DepEd), donated cleaning supplies to Marick in time for the usual “house cleaning” that schools all over the country undertake preparatory to the opening of classes.
J. Eladio L. Angeles, ACEL president, and Juan Lorenzo Luis C. Banson, chairman of the Association’s corporate social responsibility committee, personally went to the school to turn over the cleaning supplies. Janice Maborrang, Marick Elementary School’s “Brigada Eskwela” coordinator, received the donation and thanked the two ACEL officers.
“Brigada Eskwela” is an annual initiative of DepEd that seeks to promote collaboration among parents, teachers, local government units and the entire community to provide students with access to quality education. Tracing its roots to the National Schools Maintenance Week that the department launched in May 2003 under its “Adopt-A-School Program,” it was institutionalized as a yearly DepEd program in 2008.
With the theme “Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral,” this year’s program, which ran until August 26, called for collective efforts to create a safe learning environment for students, teachers as well as non-teaching personnel in schools all over the country.
ACEL’s donation was a joint undertaking of two committees – CSR and fellowship. A portion of the sponsorships the fellowship committee generates each year is used to fund the Association’s CSR activities. This year’s sponsors are Olympic Engineering and Sales Corporation, Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure, JAP Construction and Development Corporation, Civic Merchandising Inc., Inframachineries Corporation, Faequip Corporation, C.M. Pancho Construction Inc., Highland Tractors Parts Inc., Monark Equipment Corporation, Megawide Construction Corporation, Equiprime Optimum Solutions Inc., and Benedicto Steel Corporation.
