The Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL) took part in the recently held Philconstruct Mindanao 2019 where it conducted technical seminars called “technoforums.” This year’s Mindanao leg of Philconstruct was held at the SMX Convention Center Davao in Lanang, Davao City last September 5-7, 2019.
A project of the Philippine Contractors Association (PCA), Philconstruct is the biggest expo series dedicated to the country’s construction industry. Every year, expos are held in Visayas and Mindanao that then lead to a grand event in Metro Manila which serves as the annual meeting place for the construction industry’s movers and shakers, gathering hundreds of leading suppliers and thousands of trade buyers in one venue. Beginning this year, a Luzon leg has been added to the series. The initial staging of this latest addition to the Philconstruct calendar was held last March at the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark, Pampanga.
ACEL, a Philconstruct co-organizer, participates in all the expos where it offers technoforums that enable civil and mechanical engineers who attend them to earn continuing professional development (CPD) points. For this year’s Mindanao leg, the Association, similar to what it did in last June’s Philconstruct Visayas, conducted a four-day seminar on equipment management. With Renato Faigao of DMCI Mining as the speaker, the seminar started on September 4, a day ahead of the expo’s official opening, and, like its Philconstruct Visayas’ counterpart, it proved very popular as it attracted 30 participants.
On September 7, Philconstruct Mindanao 2019’s last day, ACEL held two more technoforums, both of which were held at the nearby Park Inn Radisson. Two engineers from RMD Kwikform Philippines, Arlan P. Vergara and Warel D. Demaisip, served as the speakers for a seminar on “Formworks Engineering and Safety” that was attended by 30 participants. Meanwhile, Louie I. Galica of Megawide Construction Corporation conducted a seminar on “Leadership Challenge: Work Site Supervision.” This attracted 44 participants.
Attended by architects, contractors and engineers from the region, Philconstruct Mindanao 2019 also showcased the latest product offerings of many of the country’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of construction materials, machinery and equipment.
