Ortigas Pasig, Philippines, September 21, 2024: With a total of 84 event attendees, the ACEL’s 19th Badminton Tournament proved to be a roaring success as it doubled the total number of its participants compared to last year.
The tournament started with a short prayer to ask for everyone’s safety and a smooth flow of the day’ program . Following this, the opening remarks of ACEL Co-Chairman to the Committee on Fellowship — Badminton, Mr. J. Eladio L. Angeles.
ACEL Past President, Mr. Onofre T. Banson, Jr., was also present to emphasize the importance of a recreational activity focusing on sports to promote better health and fitness. And to complete the opening ceremony, a short guideline about the tournament was given for everyone’s information and compliance.
Part of the tournament’s program was the elimination stage from the qualified pairs of Class C and D, which occurred in the morning session. By afternoon, almost half of them remained and advanced to the semi-finals.
Later that afternoon, the competition got tighter for everyone as the remaining pairs from Class C and D competed for the spots in the finals. Meanwhile, the elimination of Class A and B commenced as different elite players showcased their badminton prowess to determine which pairs would advance to the finals, resulting in a great game that left the audience in awe.
The tournament concluded with the announcement of winners, signifying that the competition was over. Below are the pairs who won the Champion and First Runner-Up spots for each class category:
