The Association of Carriers and Equipment Lessors (ACEL), Inc. celebrated its 58th Anniversary and its second General Membership Meeting (GMM) for the year last May 15, 2024, at the One Shangri-La Place, Mandaluyong City.
Anti Overloading R.A. 8794, Relatively on Axle of Trucks and Trailers, and the list of Matrix not included on the list of DPWH is the central theme of this GMM.
ACEL President, Engr. Jonathan R. Perez took the stage to honor ACEL’s past presidents and their respective achievements in his opening speech. He also narrates the association’s humble beginnings up to the present time.
Also, Engr. Perez informed the attendees about the development and upcoming activities that the association will do for this year, including the upcoming ACEL TechnoForum Seminars for the PhilConstruct Visayas 2024.
Engr. Lead Alyssa Pastrana was the first speaker who commenced the info session for the night, explaining the Legal Basis of Anti-Truck Overloading, and providing the event attendees with the importance, requirements, and related concerns about the topic.
Next on the list is Engr. Anna Marie Gomez’s Weighbridge Annual Report for the year 2023—this report is composed of different situations and cases concerning the past, current, and new truck codes of the DPWH.
Lastly, Engr. Lara Marisse Inguito, who completed the plenary talk with her topic, Study on the Anti-Truck Overloading Policy of RA 8794, provided the attendees with different knowledge about the case concern based on the actual survey that DPWH has accumulated for the past couple of years. In addition to that, different questions have been entertained about the concerned topics, which makes for a great round-table discussion for the speakers and all the listeners.
And as every GMM’s customary, fun and exciting games commenced on that night, just like “Guess the President,” where the attendees will select which ACEL Past President got the said achievement, and for every correct answer, the winner will get a prize from the hosts, which made the whole crowd filled with excitement and thrilled as the game went on.
Also, different prizes were given away for the early birds and raffle winners, such as Electronic Accessories, Aqua Flasks, Top-tier Chocolates, Stand Fans, Oven Toasters, Microwave Ovens, and a Smart TV for the major prize category.
Special thanks to our amazing hosts, Mr. Arlan P. Vergara, and Ms. Abigail Mancilla, for their lively energies, making this Anniversary-GMM extra special.
In general, this GMM proved to be insightful and engaging, as the attendees gave it positive feedback from the venue, topic, and raffle prizes, making it a successful one.
